Funny thing is I actually don't shop around for gas prices. I own a old Bronco and used it primarily for well over a year. It only gets about none miles per gallon. So what I'm driving a majority of the time now is so much better than what I was used to, it could go up to $8 per gallon and I'm still in much better shape than I was a year ago.

I guess for that reason, I'm the only one that doesn't really think gas prices are that bad.

DEA!
I am shocked. Watch what you say....someone might hear you.
 wink
We have to gas up atleast 3-5 vehicles every week.
The gas priices are hammering us.
The increase is now being passed on to the consumers and we are all, in reality, paying more for everything.

I've never just driven because I want to be in the car.  So, no, gas prices have not slowed me down.  I have to get the kids to school, my husband and I have to get to work.  Gas prices don't really matter.

While they may not matter now, they will eventually.

There was a study I read, that showed, based on current oil supplies, and price increases, that it could easily hit prices so high, that the lower and lower middle classes in the US will no longer actually be able to afford to drive to work, or use oil based heating any longer!

And the same study also was looking at huge increases on public transportation systems, that are not being grown, or maintained properly.

Once we hit that level, the study concluded that there would be some huge changes in the us, and abroad.

Good example: Let's say gas costs you $100 a week (400 a month) now between both cars. You can afford that, so it doesn't impact you.... no problem.

Gas has gone up almost  30% this year alone. Based on that figure, in only 2 year's time, gas will cost $5.77 a gallon!

That means gas will then cost you about $750 a month, in only 2 years! That's getting pretty close to doubling, but the problem becomes that our incomes don't go up that same percentage a year.. they only increase an average of 10%.

So 4 years from now, Gas costs will then be around $1400 a month! Sooner or later, unless you are in a high income bracket, you may find a major part of your income actually is used up by the gas is costs to get there.

(Bearing in mind, if the projections hold true, in 4 years, someone would have o make $16,800 a year JUST to afford their weekly gas costs.)

VERY scary times we are heading towards.

When the American idiots wake up and decide that they're NOT going to take it anymore.  If oil is SO high and oil companies are hurting SO badly, Why are they reporting RECORD PROFITS?
Americans need to get off their (mostly) fat, lazy asses and rebel.

BOYCOTT!

If we all went just one day and did not buy any gas...it would not only get their attention but it would put a real hurting on the big guys.

Tinan, with your persistance, I believe you could probably get the whole country to boycott.

LOL...  I don't think one day would make a difference.  Most of the idiots would just fill up the day before.  It's going to take telling geedubya/monkeyboy that we've had ENOUGH of his kissing up to his oil buddies and he needs to look at our HOME affairs for a change instead of worrying about how many people he's getting credit for killing in Iraq.
That's the problem, that moron in the White House is incapable of concentrating on more than one thing at a time and his obsession right now is the killing he's responsible for.  #$%#!@* the Americans, just kill kill kill.

**edited to add**  They'd probably boycott just to shut me up.  LOL

Just was watching CNN this morning, and because of the Hurricane damage caused yesterday, they are talking that we might actually see gas top $4 a gallon in a few short month's time!

That means gas costs are actually doubling this year!

Looks like it's gotten worst then expected..they closed gasoline stock trading today after it rose beyond the 1983 record high.

http://money.cnn.com/2005/08/30/markets/oil.reut/index.htm?cnn=yes

Time to fill up!

I suggest not continuing to watch CNN. I'd also suggest to fill as you need on fuel, not filling up to escape higher prices. Filling up before the price changes is contributing to the problem. In this panic, everyone is 'filling up' which will drive the price higher because of commodity and lack of recourses. There is no doubt Kimberly gave us a good ass kicking, and we still don't know.

Panic whether it's for fuel or for something else is a bad thing. It's been reported to me that Buncombe County that some stations are limiting 10 gallons per customer. Media has driven most of this worry and panic.

It really pisses me off too. I thought the last fall floods were bad. Locally they were bad, but the situation in coastal Louisiana and Mississippi is much more enormous than what any of us can imagine.

If we're talking about gas prices, who is to say. Yet I will have rather positive beliefs that they will subside. I'm rather optimistic that they will not be high forever,  but then again I wasn't complaining,
