Yea...sorry about the short notice. We were not sure if it was going to happen until the last minute.

Now the rain!

I have called the Downtown Assoc. and they have confirmed that the parade will happen today...
Rain or Shine.

Should be fun. I do not think it will be more than a light drizzle from time to time, though. We will have on our Santa hats and umbrellas. Just in case.

Well that was confusing but fun.

We missed you somehow DEA. That is too bad, we were anxious to meet you and your son.

The rain caused quite a frantic. We were walking along side our float trying to pass out candy but we were at a slow jog the entire time! UI think they were trying to beat the rain.

Here are some pictures:

I'm so sorry guys. I had a child seat malfunction, as in the vehicle it was in wasn't where it was supposed to be.

By the time I got there I parked below Mountain Credit Union and tried to keep up a good pace. By then the Cherry Street floats had started, and I busted a move to catch up, at least get close to walk with ya, but once I made it half way down Main Street I was forced to give up. Not really easy to beat feet with thirty pounds of child. O:

Then I realized how far I'd went and had to walk back. My arms were definitely killing me when I got back.

I do apologize so much because I really wanted to be there. And I was so looking forward to meeting you all. I enjoy the pictures, wish I could have been part of them. ):

Well, it turns out that the rest of the parade did not speed by like we did.  I tried to catch our driver to tell him to slow down but I couldn't.  cheesy
 LOL

He followed behind the fire trucks and did like he was told.
Somewhere behind us the parade slowed to a normal parade pace.

It is a shame because we were trying t pass out candy canes and  literally ended up tossing them while at a steady jog.
 rolleyes

We still had a great time! Next year we will ask for a position closer to the end, though. hehehe

Next year we will ask for a later

Dang! I had no clue you were doing this! I did see a soggy float late that day on an ingles run.

We saw your float at yer house, and thought you were going nuts decorating! LOL!

BTW, great tip: We bought some of the new LED christmas lights... no heat, 10,000 hour life (like 20 years or so), and best of all, they use between 80% and 90% LESS electricity then standard twinkle lights.. and they are much brighter, and have more color as well!

Now that would be really nuts! LOL
We are just slightly crazy. hehehehe

Yea, sorry for the late notice. We will all be better prepared next year. My little girl sat on the float and cried the whole time instead of waving. On the way home she waved to everyone...go figure.

We will have to drive up your way and take a look at your Christmas lights, Gareee!  That is a great tip. We didn't know they made lights like that and with as many as we have, we could use a break in wattage.

Same here. I think last year our electric bill was like $125 more then usual.

Target has the best prices on them locally.

I still have more lights to go up in the windows, and more to put on the deck as well.

I used to use those twinkle light icicle strands, but I counted how many we used last year, and the number is astounding.

I think this year, we'll actually be using only 1/10th of the power we used last year, just by replacing the icicles with the led "twinkle lights"

I'm sure next year we'll see flashing led lights, and led icicle strands as well.

The brightness and vibrant colors are what impressed us almost as much as the power savings.

It wasn't an enjoyable trip this year. Maybe we collectively can make an effort next year. Next time, we'll know we have a float, and I'm happy to help with the creation. I'm still feeling bad about not getting up with you guys.

Any chance of the float making it to the Canton parade?

What the Waynesville Parade had with wet weather, the Canton Parade made up for in cold wind. Very good parade though, I think the wind was the only real headache.

I also think it would have been very nice if we could have had a WaynesvilleLive float in Canton too.

Next year, things will be different..

Lets make some more plans for this next year. I'll be willing to help on both floats next year. I also have a trailer (little bigger) myself we can use if you prefer. There is a good chance I can get my store manager to also support the effort as well.

More plans next year.

Ok, when was the Canton Parade??

Also, anyone know when the Gatlinburg parade is? It was huge last year, and that probably would be a good placement for the WL float...

You missed a good one. Canton's is different from Waynesville. It always is after dark.

I should have posted about it, but completely forgot until I was on my way.

Gatlinburg's Christmas parade is tonight. We went last year, and it is LONG!

(We also were freezing last year.. I think this year is a little warmer)
